Our surroundings
The surroundings around the inn
Between Frederikshavn and Skagen lies the small town of Ålbæk. Here, you can experience the surrounding beautiful nature and visit the charming fishing and marina harbor. Ålbæk is situated on Skagen Odde, midway between Skagen and Frederikshavn, benefiting from the special light and nature of northeastern Vendsyssel.
Originally a fishing village, Ålbæk exudes an authentic atmosphere in its charming harbor, which accommodates both fishing boats and yachts. Ålbæk Badehotel is only a 5-minute walk from the Skagen railway, so from the station in the center of town, you can reach both Skagen and Frederikshavn in 20 minutes. However, there are plenty of reasons to stay right where you are. On both sides of the cozy harbor, the white sandy beaches stretch as far as the eye can see. With shallow and calm waters devoid of dangerous sandbars and currents, it's perfect for children and their parents.
Ålbæk's beach has been awarded the Blue Flag, offering everything a beachgoer could desire. Ålbæk serves as an excellent base for exploring North Jutland. The surrounding nature is unique, featuring flat beach meadows, Ålbæk Klitplantage, Råbjerg Mose, and Råbjerg Mile – Europe's northernmost migrating dune and the closest thing we have to a genuine desert in these latitudes, albeit without exotic animals. However, there are plenty of those at the Farm Fun family park near Ålbæk, a delightful zoo with a playground where you can encounter all the familiar Danish domestic animals as well as kangaroos, emus, pot-bellied pigs, peacocks, and many others.
